Description

Bolivia doesn't get nearly the attention it deserves in the specialty cacao world, and that's part of what makes this origin so unique.

Crafted from HPC cacao grown in the Alto Beni, Bolivia, this bar captures the natural elegance of the region’s terroir. This rare single-origin cacao is sourced from Felix Paredes Farm in the Alto Beni Region, Bolivia, in collaboration with the Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund.

Interesting background fact: In 2014, Alto Beni cacao became the first cacao in the world to receive a designation from the Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund (HCP #1), recognizing both the genetic heritage and the extraordinary flavor quality of the beans produced in the region.

Handcrafted in Boulder, Colorado, this 80% cacao bar is complex and full-bodied with a distinctive loam, grassy, and herbal character that earned the HCP benchmark designation.
Ideal for chocolate lovers who appreciate depth without bitterness, and perfect for pairing with tea, still evenings, or moments of quiet focus.

About The Cacao

HCP Bolivia Heirloom #1

Alto Beni Beniano, Bolivia

HCP Bolivia Heirloom #1 cacao comes from the Alto Beni region of Bolivia, where farmer Felix Paredes has spent decades selecting eight elite local clones from his three-hectare farm. This cacao holds the distinction of being the first ever to receive an Heirloom Cacao Preservation designation, awarded in 2014. Processed at the Flor de Cacao centre in Palos Blancos, the 2023 harvest beans are box-fermented and solar-dried with careful attention to post-harvest protocol. The result is a cacao of rare genetic depth and striking flavor, shaped by farmer-led selection that has been quietly evolving since the 1970s.

New favorite

My new favorite chocolate. I'm a big fan of Dandelion and am so grateful to have discovered Moksha. This Philippines single origin bar is rich and earthy, very smooth with almost no bitterness.
